Sentimentality by Lyla Ashry

I saved my precious books and put them all on several shelves, awaiting the day you are born so that I may read them to you. I can imagine sitting you on my lap in a rocking chair, moving back and forth, back and forth as I read to you. My eyes visualize you, a little older, picking a book off the many shelves as I did years ago – that same book – and sitting in my rocking chair, moving back and forth, back and forth as the stories entertain you and raise you into a curious, yet wondrous child. Someday you’ll grow up, and these books will become as dear to you as they are to me. You will want to keep them for when you have children of your own; to read to them as you move back and forth, back and forth on your own rocking chair… and so my legacy will go on.
